Yay for ExxonMobil! Such great news! If the US actually controlled the oil and sold it on the market then that would be something to get excited about.

Well considering what you are paying per gallon compared to the rest of the world, I would say yes, you are benefiting, you just think that Oil has to be nationalised in order for you to be excited is not realistic in a free market economy! So your view is incorrect.

The entire point of government is to do everything it can to take care of its people and provide the best infrastructure and resources possible. That is what makes a country great and competitive on the global stage. You equating the private sale of commodities, that should belong to the United States, as some kind of national victory is a joke. Thinking like this has put America on the current path that it’s on. Tucker Carlson says it all the time, when GDP becomes the most important factor for a country we’re doing it wrong.

If the oil industry were nationalized the sale of oil domestically and abroad would directly benefit the United States. Claiming our benefit is that that we pay lower gas prices than the rest of the world is fucking laughable. We are a massive consumer market for refined petroleum products. Given the size and scale of our market we are essentially buying in bulk at all times. Our entire infrastructure is also dependent upon gas powered vehicles. Those people who sell oil conduct market research and know that if they raise the price per gallon too high, Americans will simply drive less or buy more fuel efficient vehicles. It’s more profitable to sell the gas for less so that more people buy it. That’s not a benefit to the US…it’s economics.

Does allowing a private company to sell off our natural resources for profit sound like it is promoting the general welfare or ensuring tranquility? I know we will never get to full on nationalization of our natural resources but at the very least we should be benefiting significantly from the sale of those resources.

Oil is finite and it is a strategic resource. At some point the needs of the nation need to outweigh the needs of the corporation.

Zion Don talked about this during the campaign frequently when he would complain about infrastructure.

If you were anointed as the almighty one to invoke such changes how would you change it? What solutions would you offer that is different than any present past models used? What are the specifics that represent your idea to make this the way you envision it?

I would semi-nationalize the oil industry immediately, end the federal reserve, and ban usury for starters.

I would pretty much follow Hitler’s plan. Without getting on the subject of ‘muh ■■■■■ from the spergs…he turned Germany from a post-WWI shithole into an economic juggernaut relatively quickly and built out tremendous infrastructure projects simultaneously. I would like to see the same happen in America.
