A carbine , hand gun takes practice and range time the average home owning firearms generally speaking doesnât do it .
A shot gun loaded with bird shot will more then make up for the lack of training and range time 0 , 00 is all the more devastating then a 45 gr 22 cal bullet at around 3000fps .

As for accuracy, at 21â the pattern even with open chokes is no bigger than a baseball so you still have to hit what you are aiming at in order to do any damage with either.
The AR of course offers a much higher rate of fire and much larger mag capacity which keeps you alive in a prolonged fight especially with multiple attackers or attackers fighting from cover.

Horse shit. 00 buck is far more likely to continue on and cause collateral casualties both in your home and beyond. Over penetration is the biggest single concern in home defense other than reliability.
The AR loaded with .45gr JHP defense rounds will not.
