There are a lot of hoops to jump through to get a firearms licence here (uk) and the benefits are negligible. The regulations surrounding storage and where it can be used make it next to useless having one.
My approach is to know where I can get one when I think the time is right. If I’m caught in possession I will do time, so timing will be critical.
In the meantime I have many seemingly innocuous items strategically placed around my home and within my boundary. I have a very clear boundary of rigid fencing, brick walls and large set steel framed gates. There can be no confusion, if you are on my property uninvited you will sustain a potentially life threatening injury.
About 25 years ago at our old address I caught a guy crawling around our bedroom, we were half asleep and I thought my little girl had a nightmare and was sneaking into our bed. I subdued his efforts very quickly and held him waiting for the police.
There were two coppers who arrived the younger one was very concerned about the guy’s injuries !!! Luckily the older copper dealt with it wisely and told me if ever this were to happen again, throw him out the way he came in. In our case it was a 1st floor window of an old Victorian semi. The old copper said the new breed of coppers were starting to be taught about being mindful about the rights of the burglar and that has got much worse in recent years. There have been many cases of the victims being prosecuted for using too much force ! Anyway I would not leave it to chance now and certainly wouldn’t be holding someone waiting for the police to potentially feel my collar

America is still bombing in ME and they have no mandate under international law to do that.
America has troops, illegally, in Syria.
They invaded Iraq and the justification was based on a lie
They went to war(although never declared or approved) with Afghanistan and 18 years later are still at war.
If you ask questions but don’t like the answers you get can I respectfully suggest that it is you who should remain silent and stop asking questions.

Man I really like this guy! He wants a US military base in Brasil and more US cooperation. We should be spending more time and money developing and investing on our side of the hemisphere and keep China and Russia out of our backyard. This would be a win win situation!
Here is a good reason why it is prudent for the US to start paying attention to our side of the world. Eradicating Marxism in Southern Americas is probably the best way to keep it away from our country!

Not sure if you saw this Stu, this guy lives in the same county as me so I remember the incident.
Because of this case there was a change in the law (a small amount) to allow a “disproportionate” level of force, whatever that means ???
I take it to mean try not to kill a would be thief in my house but protect myself and my family but most means available.
Interestingly the law change may have helped self defence cases because there was a case in April last year where a man ( Richard Osborn Brooks ) stabbed some scumbag to death who had broken into his house and he was not charged at all.
