Listened to this guy (Shawn Baker) at the weekend. He sounds well grounded and was an Air Force trauma surgeon, so likely no dummy. It’s a long one but worth a listen in MO as he states stats etc right to the end.
Ok, just thought I would mention it because all your other vids play and sound fine … as do the ones I have posted
Nemind
There is a slight possibility that google censors can throttle the volume down to 0 over your side of the pond because the video falll under the category of doublespeak from an unperson. I wouldn’t be that surprised.
Nope, the sound plays fine for me.
Methinks the RH is getting like a geri home, going deaf and senile one by one…
Alas, I hate Chinese food. I’m destined to end up in a place where they hose me off twice a week.
Thanks Stu it’s a useful video. I have recently upped my meat intake anyway as I have been eating more vegetarian like for the last couple of years and felt I was lacking something. This guy has made me think I need to go further.
Not the “Lab meat” variety though how can that even be a thing ffs
Nooo! Don’t do that!
You have nutrient sensors, insulin senses sugars and carbs and mTor senses protein. High insulin and high mTor levels are very inflammatory. They prevent cell renewal, in particular mitophagy. As you have autophagy, likewise with cellular parts there is mitophagy. When insulin and mTor are low and AMPK is high (which senses lack of nutrients), the cells do a clean up operation where all the old and not working too well are broken down and replaced with new.
You need about 30g of protein a day. However, if you eat 30g or more of protein a day, the body sees no point in carrying out autophagy, which is a clean up process, recycling old and junk proteins, bacteria and viruses, breaking them down into their constituent amino acids to be reused. Why is that important? Junk and excess proteins turn into tumours, plaqueing of arterial walls, amyloid plaques which destroy nerve connections leading to dementia type diseases.
So eating too much meat is very aging.
Smoking is good for you, smoking is bad for you.
Coffee is good for you coffee is bad for you coffee is good for you.
MSG, good, bad, good bad.
Makes a real case to ignore the researchers and government telling you what you should be concerned about doesn’t it.
Many Chinese food places have eliminated MSG in heir food.
p.s. For me I hate Mexican food, to greasy, cheap ingredients and overall just nasty to me.
It seems there is evidence to support every point of view.
My gut says animal protein is being trashed because it suits the current trend in promoting Veganism. I know Berg isn’t vegan but I find some of his advice serves his interests. I think all we can do is research where the data is coming from and who is financing the studies.
This lady is supposedly an expert in proteins for over 20 years and her mentor for 40 years
My reasoning is different to Dr Berg’s though I agree with what he says too. I wasn’t talking about just meat; I was talking about proteins in general, including plant proteins. No need to get all defensive because there are no vegans attacking you here!
For 20 years I’ve been a pescatarian.
Pescatarian: a person who eats fish, but doesn’t eat steak, chicken, pork or any other kind of meat — only fish and seafood. That’s not all they eat, however; pescatarians also eat mainly vegetarian foods such as beans, vegetables, fruits, eggs, dairy and grains.
It’s doable. First month is the hardest to adjust.
No attack from me. Just take care of yourself. Avoid proccesed food, stay healthy and exercise as much as you’re able.
Has anyone been following the Ricky Gervais(golden globes) story
I think it might be bigger than we know - is it linked to Q?
‘‘They think you’re sheep . The Cult believes, as Q says, “you’ll follow the stars” – the celebrities in media, Hollywood, and academia who tell you, in coordinated fashion, what you’re supposed to think.’’
Tiny amounts of MSG are found in vegetables and sea weed.
But commercially produced MSG is deadly.
Think about cocaine. People in the high Andes chewed coca leaves for centuries. Early Coca Cola contained cocaine and even Sigmund Freud extolled the benefits of coke (which was in wine, etc). But industrially produced coke causes all kinds of problems.
I have a copy of this somewhere and it lists the symptoms of MSG poisoning.

This damned thing made the Japanese stupid.
