It’s a pretty disheartening situation. The Democrats are a chaos of incoherent conceits, and yet they have a clear purpose - Just win at all costs, and keep the trend going of government controlling everything, because that favors their chances for winning. The Republicans lost their purpose through the 90’s, and dubya cemented it. They’re an empty shell pretending to be something that the Democrats are not - they can’t describe what that is, so they just spit out mumbo jumbo.
I changed my registration from Republican to independent in 2003, and since then they’ve only confirmed to me that I was correct. The hand-wringers who despair that this speaker fight makes the GOP look bad…well, how about invading Iraq and stubbornly refusing to admit it was a catastrophe? They’ve proven themselves to be cowardly lying phonies, but also being frivolous flakes…the horror!
