The Neo-Cons are trying to Create a Hot War with Russia

You can make money betting that he’s going to present an anti American conspiracy to any topic……

The Constitution’s Article I, Section 8 specifically lists as a power of Congress the power “to declare War,” which unquestionably gives the legislature the power to initiate hostilities.

“The law of the Declare War Clause is unsettled in part because there have been very few judicial decisions interpreting it. In the Prize Cases in 1863, the Supreme Court upheld as a defensive measure President Lincoln’s blockade of the southern states following their attack on Fort Sumter, but was ambiguous as to whether the authority for the blockade came from Article II, from specific statutes Congress had passed in 1795 and 1807, or some combination of both. And in dicta, the Court noted that the President could not begin hostilities without Congress’s approval. Earlier cases, such as Bas v. Tingy (1800), referred generally to Congress’s broad powers over warmaking without giving specific guidance on the President’s power. But in modern times, courts have generally avoided deciding war-initiation cases on the merits, based on rules that limit what types of disputes courts can resolve, such as standing or the political question doctrine. As a result, the precise contours and implications of the Declare War Clause remain unresolved today—leaving resolution of disputes over particular uses of force by the President to the political process.”

We have not formally declared war since WWII. I do not think the Congress is unencumbered in any way from their duty.

“Despite efforts of critics to downplay the underlying allegations, the Biden affair would be relevant to the merits of such a trial. If Trump simply picked up the phone and asked a foreign leader to investigate Elizabeth Warren without any outstanding allegations of corruption, it would be impossible to defend. The problem here is that the Biden contracts do appear to involve corruption, precisely the type that Biden lambasted when he bragged about getting the Ukrainian prosecutor fired.”

That’s nice, but not an answer to my question that prompted your attempted insult to me….

I can’t be insulted, it’s water off a ducks back to me……
Just answer the question….

Exactly. So provide me the constitutionality of the US congress declaring war on Russia for example because they atttacked Ukraine….

I wonder if holding 700 Americans in jail for trespassing indefinitely is a war crime?

Keep on hating your country. You really are some kind of special.

That isn’t really a difficult question.

The central-most part of Putin’s “cold calculations” involves his apparent belief that neither the US nor NATO will do anything significant to stop his illegal (and hugely unethical) land grab.

I think I can glean–as can most reasonable, lucid people–just what Putin is likely to do, based upon his past actions.

And as for “more restraint rul[ing] the day,” that is really just a euphemistic way of saying that we should simply get out of the way, and allow Putin to do whatever he wishes, as any attempt to hinder this murderous thug might result in some very unpleasant consequences…

So, it appears that acknowledging the hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians killed by US bombs in our 20 years ME wars is offensive to some….the same ones who keep up a steady drone here of criticism of other crimes committed by the US……:roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

It’s none of our business, it’s between Russia and Ukraine and Russia is doing nothing in Ukraine that the US didn’t do in several Middle Eastern countries for 20 years…

Just like nobody did anything to stop the US from its unethical and illegal bombing of civilians in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria……

I am quite happy to debate any matter you may wish.

What I am not happy to do, however, is to trade insults, and engage in name-calling.

Or to pretend to know what motivates the other person (as, for instance, with your insistence that I simply do not “give a shit about the innocent”; and that “the differences [in my conclusions] are that the US and our coalition partners were killing innocent civilians then, and Russia’s doing it now, those were Muslim countries, brown people, Ukraine is a Christian country and white people…”

People who really have a strong argument to advance truly do not need to resort to insults and name-calling.

It is our business now. You elected a president who’s family gets rich off of ukraine

Given the fact that Ukraine isn’t a NATO member and we have no security obligations there, it would be a reasonable calculation….

I didn’t call you any names….
Now to the point. Did the fact that America and it’s coalition partners killing magnitudes more innocent civilians in the 20 years of bombing middle eastern countries than Russia has or ever will kill in Ukraine bother you to the same degree….?

Democrat run cities… how can you talk about ukraine? Fix your murderers rundown violent cities…
