The death of coal

We live in Oregon…it rains here all the time right?

Have not paid an electric bill since installing solar in 2006. Plus we get a kickback for funneling excess power to Portland Generals grid. :sunglasses:

Yep, if you’re tied into the grid the meter runs backwards when you’re producing and not using. My ranch is very remote, beyond electric poles.

What is interesting about the misleading headline in this OP, is that every source I pulled up all say its the death of coal and they are all from the traditional lefty sources one would expect to find on a google search. See the pattern here of reinforcing false narratives? Chapter 11 is not the end of coal, which with recent technological advances, is one of the safest cleanest sources of energy the US has. But you know, when someone finds a small nugget to rail against to support their anti-trumpianism they usually have to run with it!

Also, don’t you find it odd that all of these so called Climate Snowflakes who argue about Global warming, climate change do so without mentioning China and India which are the worlds largest emitters of carbon? Funny how that works huh? I seriously doubt any of the so called Monte Environmental SJW’s would be willing to call China out and protest on their streets huh?

The dumb Paris Climate Treaty was schemed up by the weasel Macron and his chummy friends at the EU to exfiltrate American wealth to subsidize their welfare socialist state and to weaken America’s economic strength. Funny shortly after announcing that America would be pulling out of the treaty and will no longer be financing their charade, that Germany would pull out of the accord too? Do you know why? All the countries involved in propagating the climate change hoax also gave China a pass, and I wonder why that is as well? I think people who have been following the economic motives will know the answer to that one when facts are laid out to bare. Even though the US carbon emissions has actually reduced not increased in recent reporting, contrary to what the snowflakes here try to put forth as credible arguments, is a major reason why peer review of the scientists is not allowed nor open debate on the subject matter based on the facts, because progressives are afraid of losing the debate altogether, which they prefer to strong arm everyone into accepting their narrative only and keep telling the lie wishing that somehow it becomes the truth! Such as people like Mann who has proven to be wrong and refuses to admit he lost the debate with his hockey stick model.

Isn’t it funny that “conservatives” conserve…um, nothing.

Preformatted textIsn’t it funny that “conservatives” conserve…um, nothing. ``

When you got no substantive arguments it’s comments like these that are not only typical but predictable as well and does nothing for your so called cause!

I never said coal & oil were the cleanest sources of energy. Although I’d rather live near a coal fired plant than Chernobyl. I did say there are better things to do with coal & oil than to burn as fuel.

Conservatives are the ballast to the likes of AOC who’d have you living back in the stone age or would create a carbon tax scam.

Conservatives protect you from your own dreamy kumbaya fantasy world.

If you are going to virtue signal touting your solar panels then you ought to be willing to donate your ranch land to the noble cause of eliminating fossil fuels. Or, is it just another climate warrior NIMBY criticizing everyone else?

How many farty cows are on your ranch? According to the green new deal they have to go
Do your part to save the planet.

And the people will pay more for energy.

One day subsidies will end and then people will really experience the cost of YOUR green energy fiasco.

There are countries that give and countries that take:

North Korea, meanwhile, has said its pollution will double by 2030 compared with 2000 levels — but only if the rest of the world writes a sizable check. Otherwise, its emissions will rise even further.

Peru says it can cut emissions by 30 percent by 2030 compared with its “business as usual” projections, though that would be a net pollution increase of 22 percent and is contingent on billions of dollars in funding.

India, Iran, South Sudan, Niger, the Central African Republic, Cuba, Egypt, Paraguay and a host of other countries have similar demands: Pay up, or else they will have to keep polluting.

China said it will hit peak emissions by 2030 and then begin reductions.

At least $420 billion has been formally requested under countries’ submissions to the Paris agreement, according to Carbon Brief, a U.K.-based group that tracks international climate change and maintains a comprehensive database of all information related to the Paris deal.

The Obama administration finalized the agreement in December 2015, it committed $3 billion to the United Nations’ Green Climate Fund, which is meant to help countries meet their targets.

The bottom line is the accord is a transfer of wealth from some countries to other countries with little to show for the billions wasted.

If you are connected to the grid you ought to be paying a maintenance fee. The grid provides a back up power source for you, that costs. If you are selling excess power your deliver is over the grid infrastructure. If you are not paying, you are free riding on the other rate payers.

What a silly post, Are you trying to troll me here?:smirk:

First off we hold no ranch lands…that’s a supposition on your part.

Secondly we own no cattle. Devin Nunes’ cow grazes elsewhere:grin:

We have one Deere tractor for harrowing and disking and four smaller battery powered tractors for working the row crops.

Vineyards are entirely solar battery powered including tilling, cover crop and canopy management.

Pretty small carbon footprint.

We lease the array, they pay any and all associated fees. If the fees were not part of the deal then those who are not on solar would incur substantial increases in their energy use and the grid would eventually degrade.

Indeed, you’ll see a lot of that…

Yah. There are fewer and fewer here that I care to engage with. Willful ignorance and an eighth grade boy mentality is not a thing I find interesting.

But I did amuse the kiddies with a typo earlier, that was some really great troll food!

So sad™

I thought you claimed to be one of the most reasonable people on this board. Sorry to see your rapid decline in integrity.

Oops, it was Monte that bragged about having solar on the ranch. Hence the question about farty cows.

It really puts new meaning of Globalism being a dirty word. Very good post Louman!

That is a claim I would never make. I invite you to find where I said that.

Perhaps you attributed that to me because we’ve had a some decent interactions.

Yet, here you are casting aspersions on my integrity when you were the one to posit people can have discussions if they tone down the rhetoric.

Perhaps I should make something clear: I am a Conservative and I stand for pretty much everything liberals hate. I am not shy about expressing it.

That is a sure fire recipe to ruffle feathers.

A Short History of Conservatives and Liberals

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

  1. Liberals; and2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q’s and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.

Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn’t fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today’s lesson in world history: It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it. A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to piss them off.

Well apparently not enough others have figured that out.
