The Aviation Enthusiasts Thread

Those are all great! But extremely expensive!

Extremely expensive ye but necessary in terms of development and future technology applications.

I am curious to know of what others think a Gen 6 Fighter Jet is going to look like? What will its capabilities be? IMO the current F-35 is already outdated, however the real gem is the current F-22 which is not available to the outside world. I believe Gruman won the contract with Airforce to develop such a fighter but won’t be available until something like 2030 and beyond.

During WW2, my mother worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard. PBY rescue sea planes. She was only 4 foot 10; and she could squeeze into tight areas for riveting. I think 300 were built. She asked the foreman what the cost was. He said, if only one of these plane rescues a downed image airman, it’s worth every cent. The days when all Americans pulled together.

I am always amazed what the NAZI´s manufactured under extreme hardship, including the worlds largest sea plane which flew until the the spruce goose superseded its size.

I already posted this same video earlier in this thread. I agree though that the Nazi’s were pretty innovative under times of desperation. Remember that we took their scientists at the conclusion of the war which lent their expertise to the development of our space program.

This is def one of my favourite planes. This was the same plane that was used in the movie “Commando” with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This is one of the strangest planes I have ever seen!

I love “goonies”
