What’s sad is that most on the left don’t seem to understand what true power looks like.
The U.S. President is the most powerful person on earth. That was even true of Obama and is certainly true of Trump.
Pelosi has power only over her caucus. She can wield that power in a bipartisan fashion and get things done, as Gingrich was able to do; or she can abuse her power and use it only to try and bring Trump down.
Warren is delusional at best, but he clearly shows the mindset of the LW MSM. It is truly sad.

Trump had to, some polls were saying the people were mostly blaming Trump. Hopefully this doesn’t badly hurt Republicans in senate next election. He needs to declare national emergency and build the wall.

To be fair he picked a pretty fucking stupid fight in an area that he really couldn’t win in the first place. So, weak and stupid.
One of biggest mistakes repugs and Trump made was that they didn’t take the opportunity to discuss repression of wages that illegals have done, whether it is house painting interior/exterior, roofing, drywall or framing.
While goverment workers had a steady climb in wages and will be paid for their vacation. Tradesmen wages over the last 25 years remain stagnated. Only recently have they increased.
Back in 86 a skilled carpenter could buy 2 Silverado Suburbans with his wage/salary. Today he’s lucky if he could buy one.
And yet no one talks about that.
That was how Trump could have broken through the common man and gain support for this so-called shut down.
Reason I said so-called I personally haven’t seen any signs of it except what I’ve heard in the news. But I’ve seen plenty of signs of repressed wages, drugs etc due to illegals.

The biggest mistake that was made was listening to the freedom caucus insist this was a totally winnable fight.
McConnell and Ryan both warned Trump that he was putting Democrats in a box they wouldn’t be able to make a deal from, and that this would never end well.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the GOP takes the opportunity to just pass a years funding to avoid more shutdowns.
Democrats advantage is they don’t give one fuck about American people…and by not giving a fuck that’s a powerful tool.
So, Trump and the GOP cared so much about the American people and the wall that they waited till they lost control of the house to try and get it done?

This was a stupid fight, they picked it at a stupid time and fought it in a stupid way.
Trump will get a few days of negative coverage, even on Fox. Though Hannity/Pirro/Dobbs contortions will be interesting to see.
Beyond that, we’ll see if he’s actually done any lasting damage to the support in his base.

As I said over the years…I wish repugs had their own Nancy Pelosi.
It only put them in a box because Nancy decided she wouldn’t give 5bn for a wall she had previously offered 30+Bn for.

It put them in a box because even if they were amenable to a deal (25 billion was almost agreed to before), they literally couldn’t make a deal with Trump under a shutdown threat.
If they made that deal, he’d just shut everything down again whenever he wanted something else. So yeah, they were boxed in. Again, Ryan and McConnell pointed this out to Trump but he didn’t want to hear it.
And to top it off, any shutdown threat he now makes is going to be hollow.
He’s not going to get his wall, and I doubt he ever really thought he would.
