Yes there is, well observed.

I always notice the details of a film. What is amazing about watching films from a different era is that there are clues within them that illuminates our thoughts, our socio-consciouness as a society back when they were made, and it contrasts our thoughts of the now. This is why I like watching films, I always learn something that is relevant to the human spirit and our evolution as a society.

I love it. It has so many bizarre subtleties. I’ve watched it many times, Those townspeople seem like real witches, That school headmaster is really something, A DVD can be obtained that has the whole double feature, that and the Prehistoric Women,

Les Diabolique is one of my favorites also. It’s a masterpiece.

Here is another chilling classic…after a comment about youtube and these movies

So many great films already on this thread. I am starting to worry that youtube/google is buying up rights to all the films in public domain and those falling into public domain. Recently they have put so many classics up and copyright seem to be in effect on movies that had already been in public domain, This means clips from or posts of them, cannot be monetized in videos made by others. This bothers me a lot.

Here is another amazing Film Noir thriller this one in color. Great performances and cast. Beautiful color.

"Leave her to Heaven. " 1945

“A writer falls in love with a young socialite and they are married soon after, but her obsessive love for him threatens to be the undoing of both them and everyone else around them.”

Gene Tierney, Cornel Wilde, Jeanne Crain, Vincent Price, Darryl Hickman, older brother of Dwayne Hickman (Many loves of Dobie Gillis) also is in it. Both brothers had extraordinary careers in films and TV. Their father had an auto dealership in Hollywood near where my mom had a job with the army before I was born and other connections. This film was made during that time.

When I would watch this with my mom, she had lots of stories related to this film and the cast and I remember them well too. Both Hickman brothers are still alive.
Gene Tierney was married to Oleg Cassini the fashion designer, who was well known for designing for much of Hollywood and later, for Jackie Kennedy .

This is a classic thriller. Directed by very prolific John M. Stahl (1886–1950).

But what could possibly unite the two unlikely companions? Written by Nick Riganas

"Death Rides a Horse is one that Spaghetti Western fans (and fans of Lee Van Cleef) would thoroughly enjoy. The FILM is most watchable (read below about the DVD and possible hopes for a Region 1 letterbox DVD release), and Van Cleef is at his best in this one, playing a thug who is betrayed by his com padres. We usually see him playing the ultimate bad guy in most of his films, with his knife-deep stare filling the screen. At times, though, Van Cleef exposes his compassionate side for just a tease, and then just as quickly masks his inner humanity behind The Stare, as he plays Ryan, who arm-wrestles throughout the movie with stubborn youngster Bill (John Phillip Law), who has forsaken his lady and his life by embracing only revenge - and a single spur - after watching his father murdered, only to then bear witness to his mother and older sister brutalized at the hands of an out-of-control g*ng, greedy for gold.

One of my favorites that I love to watch in the Film Noir genre is Joseph Cotten.

My favorite is the 1951 movie “The Man with the Cloak.”

I am not sure if you seen this one, but at the very end has a surprise twist.

Not sure that I’ve seen that film, but it looks good.

Barbara Stanwyck is probably my favorite actress of all time, she was brilliant in every film she made.

Here’s another good one “The File on Thelma Jordan” made in 1950.

The full film is available on YouTube.

Another favorite of mine is “Sorry, Wrong Number” made in 1948 the full film is not available on YouTube but the original trailer is.

Both very excellent films

[This is getting really scary to me that youtube now has all these full films. Films that were not previously on Youtube until recently.]

If I ask myself what is my favorite Film Noir of course Double Indemnity…but it shares the top of my list with some others.

This one Nightmare Alley 1947 is my “favorite.” Tyrone Power pulling out all the stops.

If you haven’t seen this one, watch it. A masterpiece. No Spoilers.

Another, The Killing. Stanley Kubrick. What a masterpiece!!

The First Kubrick film I saw as a young kid. I knew there was something special about this director

Directed by Stanley Kubrick. With Sterling Hayden, Coleen Gray, Vince Edwards, Jay C. Flippen. Crook Johnny Clay assembles a five man team to plan and execute a daring race-track robbery.

The Killer’s Kiss an earlier Kubrick

very underated.

The photography and street scenes are amazing. Definitely my “favorite” film noir. As a little kid in NYC (moved from Hollywood to NYC then Long Island at age 7) during same time Kubrick filmed this I recognize all the street scenes, movie marquees…

This trailer is a mess

a Playlist.

So do I love watching them, I try to watch at least one film a night, having decided to boycott all news programmes, this now frees up some time to watch a film.

One of my very favorite films of all time. Elmer Gantry. Great literature. Always disappointed Jean Simmons didn’t win Best Actress Oscar for this and Spartacus. Shirley Jones won for Best Supporting actress. Burt Lancaster won Best Actor. Up against Jack Lemon in The Apartment
