You mean hand it over to the US Marshals service?
Maybe. The details are not the main thing here. We have, or had, a federal system, but some crime is inter-state. We have to have a national police force to deal with it.
For example, espionage from hostile foreign powers. Your local police department, or the state troopers, are not equipped to confront this.
As a matter of tactics, calling for ‘abolishing’ the FBI is not smart. We want to reform it, to get it back to doing what it used to do. Putting it this way is far more likely to garner the support of ordinary Americans than a call to abolish it, or to replace it with the Federal Marshalls.
We’ve got to learn to fight smart.
I agree with this. I’m not a fan of the FBI as it is today, but there is a need for an entity like it. As far as abolishing it…no. Tear it down to it’s basic roots and build it back as it should be…yes.
It is the obligation of every Swiss citizen to keep a rifle and other firearms in his household and keep them in working order.
It may be necessary to abolish the FBI and CIA and other alphabet soup agencies altogether and create a new federal agency that oversees and coordinates the state police to deal with interstate crimes.
The FBI is now a threat to our nation.
The follow-up review found 665 FBI employees, including 45 senior-level officials, resigned or retired between 2004 and 2020 following a misconduct probe but before a final disciplinary letter could be issued, according to a letter this week from Grassley to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland.
communities.
The FBI has long been a tool of political subversion used to suppress threats to the status quo. But, in contrast to the claims of Trump loyalists, the focus of the FBI’s attacks has rarely been the right-wing extremists that now dominate much of the Republican Party.
Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is laying out plans to shut down a number of federal government agencies if elected, starting with the FBI, Department of Education and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Ramaswamy says his plan does not require rebuilding anything, but rather reorganizing.
“In many cases, these agencies are redundant relative to functions that are already performed elsewhere in the federal government,” Ramaswamy said in an interview with NBC News. “When you have redundancy, that’s actually a formula for corruption, as well as waste, fraud and abuse.”
Ramaswamy’s plan would see money used to run the FBI, for example, be redistributed to the U.S. Secret Service, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
The DOJ and FBI under Attorney General Merrick Garland thought they could pull off an assault on president Trump first suggested by Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias: claim he concealed a classified document and charge him with mishandling it under federal law. Title 18 of U.S. Code 2071 states that:
Whoever, having custody of any such record…willfully and unlawfully conceals the same…shall be fined or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States.
Farm out the vital functions of the FBI and raze the rest. RIP to the FBI, an organization that died the way it was founded in the J. Edgar Hoover era—as a political tool for the elite and powerful, weaponized to spy on their enemies. The Office of the Inspector General ultimately found 17 significant inaccuracies in the FBI’s warrants to entrap and defame Trump with allegations of Russian collusion they knew were unsourced and untrue. High-level FBI agents sent text messages conspiring how to weaponize their power to take down Donald Trump because of his politics.
Mind you, this is the same FBI that played “Russia collusion!” on repeat, attempting to disqualify Trump from running in 2016.
It all needs to go! FBI, CIA, and especially the ATF which is an unlawful organization who likes to make up laws and rules as they see fit. The recent Supreme court ruling just reinstated bump stocks as being legal.
The point is we need a serious reduction of the Federal agencies to address our over spending.
Well…, details definitely matter. We have the US Marshals service who are more than capable of carrying out services of what the FBI does. I have read on more than one occasion that have suggested as such while we tear down the FBI and rebuild it again in some other form. The FBI is out of control, so much so that they will never gain back the trust of the public ever again.
I agree for the most part. CIA is a shadow government on it’s own. ATF is just useless and not necessary. FBI is a useful entity when used correctly. It needs torn down and re-built, but not done away with. Just my opinion, of course.
What ever that is, it is in need of some serious reform, and I wouldn’t even call it the FBI any more. It will be hard to get rid of them seeing they now have a new building being built.
What you and I knew as the FBI hasn’t existed for quite a while. The FBI has scandalous history for some time, but it has morphed into a political weapon in the last 20 years. Maybe it’s always been and I just never saw it until recently?
I still think it has value and purpose if used correctly.
No, you are right, it had a purpose, but its time for its serious reform. The FBI is good at counter terrorism task forces and Forensics investigations, but their false flag bullshit has gotten a lot of innocent people destroyed and killed over the years and they’ve gone rogue. There is no way I would ever trust the FBI ever again after the shit I have learned about them over the years.
Okay, let’s assume the US Marshalls Service could replace the FBI. The next question is, what should conservatives be publically advocating? I think the slogan “Abolish the FBI, and replace it with the US Marshalls Service” would not be a winner. “Reform the FBI” is better. Once in office, if that ‘reform’ takes the form of replacing the FBI with the US Marshalls Service, fine.
We always have to think about how to win mass support. This means crafting our slogans to have mass appeal.
I haven’t – but would like to, if anyone has any links – read anything about the attitude of the average rank-and-file FBI agent towards ‘DEI’. My guess is that they’re not enthusiastic about it, but have to keep their mouths shut. Same for the military.
DEI is the liberal version saying whites need not apply . And when they say inclusion there are several "protected classes but whites are not one of them . Best qualified is the best path . Fuck that liberal thinking bullshit !!!
This is what happens when an organisation like the FBI goes political they lose all respect from the citizenry. They now have scumbag status.
How far down has the FBI fell in the last 20 years . How many times did Hillary lie to the FBI when she blatantly destroyed evidence with a hammer and bleached the cell phone data ??? Law enforcement I think NOT !!!
I think it started with the event of “Ruby Ridge” that the FBI status and public trust was beginning to erode. Its been downhill since.
If Trump wins will there be a repeat of what he did to Comey be applied to Christopher Wray?
I can’t imagine if Trump wins the presidency that Christopher Wray survives as being FBI director.
