President-elect Donald Trump received a historic sentence on Friday, Jan. 10, from New York Judge Juan Merchan, dodging jail time and instead getting “unconditional discharge” for his 34 felony convictions.
He appeared virtually from Florida for his sentencing on Friday morning at the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse in New York City. The hearing was scheduled at the last minute so that the case could get closure before Inauguration Day, and Trump’s frantic attempts to cancel his sentencing were rejected by the New York State Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court.
Before the sentence was handed down, prosecutor Joshua Steinglass said that — while the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office ultimately recommended unconditional discharge out of respect for the office of the presidency — he did not want to downplay Trump’s “unsubstantiated attacks” on the rule of law and his “coordinated campaign” to undermine the jury’s conclusion.
President Trump should consider this sentencing as a badge of honor! He took one for Team America and the American people! Merchan, Bragg, James, etc., have proven that the legal system in New York State and New York City is no different and is as corrupt as the lawless, crime infested country of Mexico run by corrupt politicians, attorneys, judges and Drug Cartel thugs.
“Merchan appears to be making the case in his own defense and insisted that this case is no different from any other case in New York. It is a case being made long after the jury has left the courthouse. This is like Dr. Frankenstein telling his creature that he is just like any other man. Stitching together this case from a dead misdemeanor and declined federal charges is anything but ordinary.”
Judge Merchan presided over a ridiculous case leading to a farcical result. He can lash out at Donald Trump all he likes, but he is only proving Trump’s point that he was a biased activist judge who botched the case. And if there is any justice, this travesty will ultimately be overturned and the “felony conviction” will be expunged.
The court determines that further punishment is unnecessary or inappropriate, often due to:
-Minor nature of the offense.
-Lack of harm caused by the offense.
-First-time offender or mitigating circumstances.
Basically it’s Merchan saying the court knows Trump did nothing wrong but Democrats want to be able to call him a felon.
