It’s in Mexico now too. Probably heading straight for the US border.
In mainland China it’s a different beast and system, in HK it is fine with fat pipes to boot!
Good excuse to shut down the southern border altogether! Win win!
If that’s true why hasn’t there been any corresponding rise in commodities prices over 2016-2018 prices?
And people visiting China as well would not be allowed to return???
Not without screening. People seem to forget that one of the main purposes for Ellis Island was to screen people out who might be bringing infectious diseases to the US.
There is little screening on the southern border for asylum seekers and none for illegals crossing.
The US is ripe for a major outbreak from the south as well as air travel.
Interesting possibility and the article suggests that the virus may have mutated from snakes to bats, which going from reptiles to mammals is an extremely unusual hypothesis.
The 2019-nCoV outbreak is another reminder that people should limit the consumption of wild animals to [prevent zoonotic infections](https://www.cdc.gov/onehealth/basics/zoonotic-diseases.html).
The latest here is that there will be medical vetting of air passengers on all incoming flights from China. Elephant in the room question . . . what do the authorities do when they discover someone who has SARS or who’s incubating it? Hold that thought, because it doesn’t look as if the authorities have thought about it.
How are you gonna stop anything for which we know nothing about the real cause?
Which authorities are you speaking of?
Pretty bizarre what is going on in Shanghai
The government will probably install a qualified medical team near our airports’ arrival halls, whichever ones have incoming Chinese planes (probably just Heathrow and Gatwick, because they won’t land at the smaller provincial ones), then take the passengers on those flights into separate areas for testing them all for SARS. But that could take an hour or two - or more? And some Chinese passengers might have changed flights at other foreign airports, and not be on Chinese planes at all. Fucked if I know.
What’s the point of speculating how it came about - it’s here now so how it originated is totally irrelevant; all we can do is hope the scientists come up with something, like they have with Ebola? I steered clear of someone coughing and sneezing in Sainsbury’s this morning. At least we never had to worry about catching AIDS, this is another ballgame altogether.
Holy shit dude! You are certainly clueless about how science works. Of course it’s important to find where it originated not only to prevent it from happening again but to also find a remedy! How the fuck do you apply such logic with out knowing the source? What do you think the scientist you speak of are going to do? That is how all diseases are understood! I have to say this about the dumbest thing you ever said here!
[Snakes Could Be the Original Source of the New Coronavirus Outbreak in China]
‘could be this’, ‘could be that’ doesn’t cut it. By all means use definitive proof, but this is no time for scientists to be chasing chimera; and I daresay they have more modern scientific paths to follow, such as spectrum microscopes, than waste time trying different theorems which, by comparison, is like checking out old wives tales.
Dude it’s pointless talking to you when your reading comprehension skills is seriously deficient! The article I cited never claimed it was the source only that Scientists as in biologists are researching it to see if there is a possible link. The article is very specific in terms in what they are looking for and you always go to the source where the out break happen which appears to be Wuhan, China! What do you think they are going to put in their microscopes? Apparently you haven’t thought this part through adequately enough to apply some common sense to logically put two and two together nor have any experience or knowledge on how biology works.
Do yourself a favor, get help in order to get over your reading impediment before making such stupid comments; for not doing so is only doing yourself a disservice not to mention saves you from being embarrassed which is what you seem to be doing by presenting your absurd argument.
Please keep the conversation on track and civil.
I was reading this morning that Corona viruses are common in many different species of animals such as camels, bats, and cats and that it is really only on rare occasions that these viruses can evolve and affect humans and then spread between humans.
That’s interesting, is that just a general observation or are you thinking something nefarious is a foot?
