Significant sectors will not see demand return, and so e will face supply and labor interruptions. This is not a collapse in speculative valuation, it is forced collapse of market demand and supply chains.
It does not seem reasonable to imagine the network of customers, markets and vendors to rebuild those relationships without a longish period of uncertainty.
Food inflation is already here and the rest will follow as soon as we open things back up. Already financial articles are projecting Wiemar type inflation and I have to think they may be right. Weāll see. Either way I know Trump will just print some more money as government collapsed companies seek bankruptcy protection and more and more will fail in an never ending cascade. Never ending money printing is the only policy available to the government since they can only destroy businesses and can only destroy and not create jobs. So order the rates to go negative Trump. Everything has to be rethought and I assure you that is occurring already. Weāre already hearing of large corporate businesses who are not planning on having workers return to work until 2021 at the earliest. The question is, what will the work environments look like when they return? My company has already questioned whether any of the cafeterias in their buildings will survive. They are also trying to figure what the risk is in open area work environments and how to adjust. All companies are also having to now think about how to incorporate a pandemic planning into pretty much everything that they do and that that means moving forward.
Thatās the new world moving forward for the salaried class of workers. But what of small businesses of every kind that cannot enforce measures to prevent the spread of highly infectious contagions in their workplaces without entirely remodeling the place and significantly reducing the customer capacity inside their places of business?
