It’s sad that Sen. Warren and Rep. Cortez are celebrating chasing Amazon out of New York. This flies in the face of those Democrats demanding a $15 an hour minimum wage. Sanders and others beat the drums for this new wage and Amazon conceded to their demands.
I guess Democrats don’t talk to one-another? Sanders is out demanding higher wages and here we have Warren and Cortez beating up a company that went along with Sanders.
When Hillary was Senator she chased a lot of jobs out of up-state New York. The Washington Post writes, and I quote: “upstate job growth stagnated overall during Hillary’s tenure, with manufacturing jobs plunging nearly 25 percent.
I’m almost certain Cortez and Warren have confused Amazon with Walmart.
25,000 to be exact. Meanwhile, Governor Cuomo is accusing Trump of stealing wealthy New York residents and shipping them off to Florida! I swear, you simply can’t make this stuff up!
High paying jobs aren’t as much of an issue as affordable housing is in NYC. The gentrification would cause a lot of damage to the community. It’d be one thing if Amazon paid their taxes, didn’t circumvent local gov and didn’t demand $3B in tax subsidies, but that’s not the case.
Except for the little reality that no business pays taxes. It’s a cost of doing business like employees and built into the price you pay for their product/labor.
Not only would have Amazon provided well-needed jobs but would have eliminated the urban blight. Now a high crime area would have been transformed into a low crime area with future growth oportunities.
and what about the successful people of color , why dont you talk about them, celebrate their success and emulate what they accomplished
