Who would have thought that the least likely place would end up protesting mass against the World Economic Forum’s Climate change policies that is severely affecting farming in Holland? Just a matter of time before this starts spreading to other countries including the USA. I love how everyone on the right is proclaiming that these farmers are “patriots” for disobeying the law. Patriotism is conventionally understood as devotion to and vigorous support for one’s country. But for those on the right it’s understood as principled opposition to and vigorous defense against one’s own country. In America, the oppose our country’s government. They do the same all over the world. They pick and choose which laws to obey. They regard entire socioeconomic and racial-ethnic groups who have citizenship as enemies. They assert a private right to use and abuse public lands. In the American context, presumably during the Revolutionary War these “patriots” would have been taking potshots at Washington because, you know, “the Government.” Being a patriot means basically, “I am a law unto myself, and I’m proud of it.” It’s the definition of asinine. Here, it’s on display in the Netherlands.

Patriots can love their country but are not obligated to love their Government. Morons like you who skipped civics class can’t distinguish between the two therefore you have no idea or clue what true patriotism is. How many wars have you fought in? Zero?
