The BBC are running with this headline and appear to be the first to have broken the story - my response is basically “does anyone really give a crap?!” Whatever Trump’s reasons for scrapping the deal, it was still a bad and capitulating one. Powerful countries don’t make stupid deals with lunatic regimes like Tehran, they seek ways to collapse them!
Donald Trump walked away from the Iran nuclear deal purely to spite Barack Obama, a leaked memo written by the UK’s former ambassador to Washington claims.
Sir Kim Darroch described the move in the 2018 diplomatic cable as an act of “diplomatic vandalism”, according to a report in the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
The paper says the memo was written after then Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson appealed to the U.S. in 2018 to stick with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) first announced to the world by Barack Obama on July 14, 2015. Sir Kim allegedly told Mr Johnson:
The outcome illustrated the paradox of this White House: you got exceptional access, seeing everyone short of the president; but on the substance, the administration is set upon an act of diplomatic vandalism, seemingly for ideological and personality reasons – it was [previous US president] Obama’s deal.
Look, this is not news. It’s been obvious since the day that Trump descended the elevator to announce his candidacy that he had a boner for Obama and would make his presidency a referendum on anything Obama did.
It is an Islamic state. No contracts or treaties will ever be honored by them. Negotiations are simply a stalling tactic. They are even less honorable than the Chinese communist party…and that is hard to do.
Funny - I thought that Obama buddied up to the Ayatollahs for the same reason, primarily to annoy and jab the Republicans. It is fair to say, that this sort of behavior, is quite normal in politics. That is why the Ayatollahs are going to wait out Trump, no matter how long it takes.
The only thing ruined was the pay off scam every year for Obama’s crew and EU crooks to look the other way, enabling Iran to sell off their nuclear material to rogue states and bad actors around the world.
I don’t think I ran is the big threat that the neocons claim it to be, but it isn’t a harmless country either.
What’s funny is that you think the deal that was negotiated by Kerry and his team along with France, the U.K., China, Russia and Germany, amounts to Obama buddying up to ayatollahs.
I’d point out to you that at least twice Trump certified that Iran was compliant with the JCPOA, proving that he withdrew from it for no other reason than to poke Obama in the eye.
That parts probably true, which is what everybody else is going to do about that anomaly. Btw, Trump broke the agreement by withdrawing, AFTER having certified Iranian compliance twice. They are no longer bound to the agreement. Trumps blinded by his hatred of Obama and does stupid regularly.
Usually when someone has to post in bold letters repeating a news source that is just hearsay is an indication of someone trying desperately to be heard while exhibiting signs of confirmation bias!
