WOW! I just finished watching the 1968 independent film “Head” featuring the Monkeys. To my great surprise I found the movie to be clearly innovated,surrealistic,absurd, ridicules and far ahead of its time. The movie is a surrealistic black comedy and parody of war and the entertainment business. It is not a main stream movie and it bombed out when released in 1968. The music is clearly a departure from the commercial teenie-bopper sound the Monkeys were famous for. Special guest included Victor Mature, Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper, Sonny Liston, Annette Funicello, Frank Zappa and many more. What makes this movie great is the visual effect. This is an experimental film and it works!
