A method of construction with brick-built housing has been employed in Turkey where they do have earthquakes. Similarly the Taiwanese, where they have a lot of earthquakes, have regulated construction standards so that the buildings donāt come down after/during an earthquake.
However, I do know that the Japanese use wood and paper because the half-life of a house is only a few years.
There are two ways of preserving a house for a long time.
Either you build it with stone which can last thousands of years.
Or you build a house with wood, and destroy and rebuild it at a certain interval. At Ise Shrine, they do exactly that. (Every 20 years they destroy the old shrine and rebuild a new one)
I saw ancient houses in Rome where people have lived continuously for two thousand years since the Roman Period.
Itās creepy, in a way. You never know what transpired in the past. Thatās why I donāt like old houses and antiques.

I was just about to post similar following on from the tweets etc above. Apparently Lin Wood has said same.
The jury is out for me. He looks to be aiming at the central doors then switches his focus to the side window. I have said in another thread yesterday that I did notice nobody seemed to check for a pulse. Basic first aid response I would have thought from the cops and to look for wound and attempt to stem blood flow. For now though I think the shooting is real but the response seems off. Will have to wait and see if any cctv emerges or indeed better proof of crisis acting turns up.
