D-Day 2019 - Seventy-five Years Later

Sorry, Doctor…but I can’t agree with that. A person’s branch of the military and theater of past service is personal information.

It was no different in 45, 85, or 2005. The realism really bothered me.

It’s ok, we can disagree, it’s not like giving out rank and name!

Iraq, Mogadishu, Diego Garcia, Army! Not that personal!

I agree the realism of the landings was something else all together. I found the rest of the movie a bit of a letdown

This is true…but revealing such narrows it down.

Did you hear that barking chihuahua?

I see what your saying, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal as much as giving out rank and file!

You are correct.

Had I participated, I would be proud to tell when, where and what group I was in…but it would still be personal information.

IIRC, captured soldiers are limited to revealing name, rank and serial number.

If I ever get a chance to visit the military cemeteries in Normandy, I will certainly pay attention to the names and other information on the headstones.

I do that when I visit Andersonville. I have a dear friend buried there. He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

My Chihuahua is a Doberman Pinscher! :sunglasses:

The same Andersonville that was a POW camp for Union Soldiers?

Yep! They also have a museum that has displays and artifacts concerning other POW prisons. There’s even a model of a rail car used in the digging the tunnels, Tom, Dick and Harry at Stalag Luft III during WWII.

If you get a chance, you should visit there.

Interesting stuff! I hope I do someday!

I somehow doubt you’ve ever seen your friends blown in half a few feet away, shot right next to you, or found them with their guts laying in their lap while said buddy is screaming for you to help them.

I’ve been to war, that is the most realistic depiction of war I’ve ever seen.

Flag it, ignore it, and move on.

And I doubt the majority of people who relentlessly talk about their military service have ever seen that as well.

Well at least you’ve finally admitted you had no basis for the claim. That’s progress.

I did not admit anything. Its hilarious the way members here come to the conclusions they do.

Reading is fundamental.

I heard that the more someone brags about sex, the less he can do it.
I suppose it’s the same with war. The more someone brags about his war exploits, the less his real bravery

And who is bragging about their war exploits?

Or are you just making up more fake sruff.

Off topic trolling, just flag it and move on.

Happy d day my fellow patriots! And service men! God bless
