Air Force Veteran Joseph Walker will be laid to rest Monday, and no one is expected to attend. The cemetery said they do not know where his family is and they do not want him to be laid to rest alone, so they are asking the public to attend.

While Cruz certainly wan’t solely responsible he was a big part of getting the message out.
The end result? An estimated 5,000-6,000 people showed up for the funeral.
With the expansive population growth the last 25 years with people moving in from CA and up north lots of what made this place special special for so long has changed.
It was good to see that some of that “Texas Spirit” remains.
The effort started locally with a handful of veterans but when Cruz and others got involved in publicizing it things snowballed quickly.
It is terribly sad though that anyone ends up alone with no one to remember or miss them in their final days.
