What sucks about this incident, having worked in the news industry a number of years, the stole the camera man’s cam with the footage. Of note, this is why having insurance is a good idea. Cams, usually with today’s advanced tech tools they can run about $18,000 and up. The standard used to be Beta SP, that used to run about 80 to $120,000, but digital has now made that cost a lot cheaper.
The news organization should have carefully thought this one out before going into dangerous neighborhoods like Chicago, such as hiring a legit security team. Then again who really cares about news media people these days? Given their all time low popularity within the public socio-consciousness not many will be sympathetic to a story like this.
