Religion is powerfully motivating and belligerent humans fight over it. Heck, religion has caused conflict even in my diverse and tolerant family.
Islam is a threat because it is a THEOCRACY rather than a tolerant religion. Any nation that practices freedom of religion (no national religion and no prohibition of religion) should allow any and all religions and should protect them from suppression governmental authorities and other religions.
It is when a religion dictates laws and punishments for non-compliance that it becomes a theocracy, as is the case with Islam. Sharia Law conflicts with our constitutional law and should be âproscribedâ, as you say.

Deeply held personal beliefs are the source of most conflict. Combine that with tribalism which is what you get with large groups sharing those beliefs such as religions and itâs inevitable that at some point conflicts will arise.
Everyone wants to be right and at some point every organization, govât, or culture wants to assert itself over others.
For the life of me I simply do not understand why any rational adult needs to have something to believe in, or be impressed by all the mindless rituals that go with these religions . . . where everything is in 3s (the trinity I guess?), and why the clergy dress up in frocks and funny hats . . .

Mohammad served a spiritual realm even if he never overtly encountered its demonic agents, they could still influence him through his fallen nature just like they can the unsaved today should it be seen by them in their interest. Islam was created in Medina as a bastardization of the Arab religion which worshiped a moon god. The name of the religion escapes me. After Mohammad moved his small army of followers base to Mecca (or is it the other way around?) he changed his modis operendi to forcible conversions, dihmmi tax or death.
