BREAKING NEWS! FBI agent under criminal investigation for altering FISA document on Carter Page***UPDATE***

Why is this news significant? Because the same issue that is being discussed in the Michael Flynn case where DOJ has admitted in making an error is now giving more impetus that 302 FISA applications have been altered and the process has been abused in which is a violation under current statues of the US law. What is also further telling as to why this is significant is that CNN is reporting this story, which if one were to think about this for a minute or two would suggest that this is a pretty big story that typically would go to the New York Times. Someone is leaking this story.

On a less serious note however, its quite entertaining to watch Wolf Blitzer break the news to his audience. Anti-Trump Preet Bharara seems stunned by the news as well.

"Keep in mind which FBI officials are now working for the media outlet, CNN, that is providing the leaks; ie. former FBI Deputy Director, Andrew McCabe ; the spokesman for James Comey, Josh Campbell ; a former FBI agent, Asha Rangappa ; or the former FBI chief legal counsel, James Baker . All now work for CNN.

It’s important to note the media source aspect because normally this type of leak would go to the Washington Post or New York Times first; ergo, it likely stems as a personal leak to one of the former allied FBI officials now working for CNN.

An FBI official is under criminal investigation after allegedly altering a document related to 2016 surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser, several people briefed on the matter told CNN.

The possibility of a substantive change to an investigative document is likely to fuel accusations from President Donald Trump and his allies that the FBI committed wrongdoing in its investigation of connections between Russian election meddling and the Trump campaign.

Horowitz turned over evidence on the allegedly altered document to John Durham.

It’s unknown how significant a role the altered document played in the FBI’s investigation of Page and whether the FISA warrant would have been approved without the document. The alterations were significant enough to have shifted the document’s meaning and came up during a part of Horowitz’s FISA review where details were classified, according to the sources.

The identity or rank of the FBI employee under investigation isn’t yet known, and it’s not clear whether the employee still works in the federal government. No charges that could reflect the situation have been filed publicly in court.

Update

If you have followed the case closely, the intentional removal of Peter Strzok in combination with the explanation of the lawyer’s FISA responsibilities; and in combination with prior reporting of FBI lawyer 2; it seems pretty obvious the line-level lawyer was Kevin Clinesmith.

It’s an investigation of an allegation. Hardly a bombshell. Allegations are made all the time that turn out to be nothing.

Yeah sure! What ever you say!

Is an investigation of an allegation something different than I described?

Amazing and very enlightening to see the first reaction from Wolf and CNN about an FBI agent under investigation for falsifying records is how it will help the President, and not corruption in our premier law enforcement agency. POTUS is correct, CNN is VERY FAKE NEWS.

Odd that red hatters declare all investigations witch hunts.

Mind you though, that the FBI agent in question, has already admitted to altering the 302 and was terminated in order to cover for Peter Strozk who also used an e-mail that was also altered in order to cover up the initial dirty deed. Its why I referenced the Michael Flynn case, because the DOJ already admitted their error in the specific parties and who wrote and altered the 302’s. Once the IG report comes out, a lot will be revealed and this is one aspect that is going to be exposed.

So chances are pretty good that this allegation is going to turn into a criminal charge very quickly.

It’s not a mere allegation hence the FBI agent in question already admitted to altering the 302 in the Carter Page surveillance probe, which is why he was fired from the FBI, which I suspect was to cover up this egregious violation. The investigation part is what this specific agent further divulged during questioning process by the IG that has spurned further investigation of other parties involved. That being Lisa Page and Peter Strzok whose text messages were central in the Michael Flynn case that forced the DOJ admitting an error of who authored the original 302’s in that case, which in a nutshell will get Flynn’s case thrown out!

As far as getting an indictment and a charge, that remains to be seen as you well know many people here and elsewhere have been pretty skeptical if anyone is ever going to be held accountable for the blatant violations that occured under Obama, especially the unprecedented unmasking, that led to the rubber stamping FISA abuses and misleading of its courts. Here is hoping that justice will be decided soon enough. Fingers crossed!

There needs to be accountability otherwise Americans will never trust their government again. This was a coup against the duly elected president. That can’t be tolerated and the perpetrators can’t just walk away with a slap on the wrist.

Totally agree! Without accountability the country as we know it will cease to exist! There simply can not be two standards of law being applied where the elitist political class get to act with impunity. Either everyone is equal under the law such as what our founding fathers intended or we are not. If the former prevails then we become a full blown plutocracy and you know what follows when that happens. Lessons should be considered when viewing Nero’s tenure rule of Rome.

I think there’s been ongoing investigations and inquiries to address this problem…:man_shrugging:

But alas, from Waco to Ruby Ridge and lies to involve us in a senseless war in Iraq to Benghazi and Syria, fast and furious, and now Trump’s obstruction of justice, witness intimidation extortion via QPQ, Americans have little reason to hope that presidents will ever be held accountable for their corruption…

And of course, we have this stupid (extra-constitutional) DOJ rule not to prosecute sitting presidents.

That is a lie. POTUS can be prosecuted, it is called impeachment and a trial is held in the Senate.

More insults is all you ever seem to come up with.

As he resigned from his post Wednesday, former special counsel Robert Mueller explained that “longstanding” Department of Justice policy prevents a sitting president from being charged with a federal crime. Therefore, while his office investigated potential offenses committed by President Donald Trump, charging Trump was “not an option we could consider.”

Isn’t that impeachment is though? I am not sure why you are copying and pasting something to further feed your obsession that is not even relevant to what we were discussing! This has nothing to do with Trump so why do you have try to derail this thread?

ROTFLMAO.

No law prevents it. If there were substantial evidence, h would have ben indicted. But excuses are everything.

But that’s all that ever happens…:man_shrugging:

The media is going into spin mode on this. Must be something to it.
