Matt Gaetz, the former Florida representative and Trump nominee for Attorney General, announced Thursday that he is withdrawing as Trump’s pick for the top prosecutor, citing what he described as the “distraction” his nomination had caused due to a swirl of allegations about paying underage women for sex.
“While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition,” Gaetz said.
“There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1.”
I am disappointed that he withdrew his nomination. He would be a great AG.
Too bad. His questioning in House hearings was some of the best. Very smart legal mind. He would have gone after the swamp better than anyone.
After several years of the Biden DOJ conducting an investigation of Gaetz, no criminal charges were filed. WHY ??? He was already cleared by Biden’s **weaponized DOJ," There isn’t even a civil suit… President Trump needs a fighter to head the DOJ.
This is a BAD precedent. The DemoRATS and fucking slimy RINOs triumphed with their attacks on Gaetz. Emboldened by their success, they will now focus their attacks on Hegseth. And it won’t end there. The undermining of Trump’s government before it even takes power has commenced . The swamp will scream about Trump’s next pick too.

Meanwhile the parade of FALSE allegations, accusations, conspiracy theories, and mass hysteria, fearmongering, and hate to incite the fragile minds of the DNC base will continue just like it did during the first Trump administration. All the while promising to Unite the nation.
The Washington RINOS weren’t going to support him and that’s a shame…he would have torn up the DOJ…the RINOS went with the Dems. Let’s hope they’ll have a backbone and back the rest of Trump’s picks. It was pretty clear that Gaetz is getting the Kavanaugh treatment.with the hired sluts ready to lie again .

That’s too bad. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect this. He would have been a good guy in that position, but there was no way it was going to be allowed to happen, or at the least, a long drawn out affair that would probably result in his non confirmation anyway.
That is too bad, I would have liked to see the fireworks during his confirmation hearing. Palace intrigue suggests that there was more behind the scenes than we care to know about.
Pam Bondi? Hmm? She is a stalwart and a woman who probably also faces some tough challenges getting confirmed, however I am told she is tough so who knows.
