Interesting that many Australians didn’t know that Darwin in Northern Territory was bombed badly until the movie Australia starring Nicole Kidman came out in 2008.
WOW! If that is the case then those people either do not know their history or have been poorly informed.
It’s also the tourists from Melbourne etc., who usually get eaten by crocodiles in Northern Territory.
Australia is pretty much the same size as the 48 contiguous US states, and, yes, these folks know too little about their own country.
The Australian government kept the events of Darwin secret for propaganda purposes.
(Darwin in 1940s was still very isolated from the rest of the country, due to the sheer size of Australia and scant population)
