Are We On the Brink of Revolt?

Well it’s not possible Lenin wasn’t born until 1870 Long after Lincoln was dead. That is why it’s absurd.

The military has fired upon civilians before and there’s a few examples. And that wasn’t hidden as you’ve posted it right here.

One has to wonder why Trump signs these things into law when he was suppose to make America great again, but democrats are always blamed for it. Until it’s a Democratic Party president and then it’s always the presidents fault.

Yes, this is a real possibility, but it must be worked for.

In an ideal scenario, the majority of the American people would have voted, in a landslide, a heavily conservative Senate and Congress and President, and an incumbent Leftist minority would refuse to recognize the vote, would declare an emergency and cling to power, and would try to use the military against the people. The Left in Venezuela has succeeded in doing this. We would then have unquestionable democratic legitimacy and we would probably see the scenario you envisage. (One complication: if our side is seen as white supremacists, there could be a problem, as the military is increasingly non-white. I used to quote the figure 30%, but now it’s over 40%. [https://www.cfr.org/article/demographics-us-military ] This is one reason among many for conservatives to remain vocally anti-racist, regardless of how many non-whites we attract to our side.)

But this is very unlikely. The bitter truth is that we are not a majority.

Our real problem in a civil war situation would be obtaining democratic legitimacy. In terms of absolute numbers, conservatives have been a minority for some time, and it’s getting worse. The peculiarities of the American Constitution (the electoral college, the structure of the Senate) plus some gerrymandering and voter suppression, have given us power greater than our raw numbers, but this is slowly changing, due to the demographics of both ethnicity and age. The Left captured the cultural apparatus long ago, and their work is reflected in the increasing popularity of socialism, and declining patriotism, of the newer generations.

So a ‘revolt’, even if successful, that just restored democracy-as-usual to the US would be self-defeating. We would soon be right back where we started – facing a Left with majority support. (We may see that sooner than we think. I don’t believe the election in November is in the bag by any means.)

So are we doomed? As I see it, there are two ways in which we can escape the ‘tyranny of the majority’, neither of them pleasant.

(1) Go the Latin American route – establish a military overseership: when the elected representatives get too left wing, the military steps in and runs things. This is sometimes accompanied by death squads. This really would be the end of the American Republic.

It would preserve capitalism, of a certain sort. (Ruling militaries tend not to hold back from interfering in the economy. They don’t kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, but they do take their share of the eggs.) In the fever swamps of the ‘alt-right’ there is probably, or could be, support for this idea. We already hear them taunting the Left with the chant “Pinochet did nothing wrong!” And there is a small but real current on the Right which admires Vladimir Putin for his defense of his nation and of tradition, and it’s only a step from that position to wanting an American Putin.

(2) The alternative to being a minority in a fifty-state America, is to be a majority in a less-than-fifty-state America. This would be in line with the zeitgeist: we have gone from fifty countries after WWII to about 200, and the trend continues: Scotland will soon leave the UK, Catalonia and the Basques will probably exit Spain, Quebec may have another go in Canada.

There are immense practical difficulties with this course. Nevertheless, if current demographic trends continue, it’s the lesser evil of the two evil alternatives.

Of course it’s unthinkable. But so was civil war just a few years ago.

Here is an interesting article in the same vein you speak of.

Aren’t you glad that you’re of the advanced age that you won’t have to witness any of those horrors.

The youth of America are moving steadily to the Left. A majority of those under 30 reject capitalism.
Please have a look at this article: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/sep/02/socialism-young-americans-bernie-sanders

We must not kid ourselves. Or at least conservatives must not kid themselves.

Well Doug, that is related to the ever widening income inequality and predatory capitalism. And we have Trump slashing regulations which are designed to protect consumers which is only escalating the problem.

In the midst of the nation’s longest economic expansion , the separation between rich and poor is at a five-decade high. … The indicator has been rising steadily for several decades. When the Census Bureau began studying income inequality in 1967, the Gini index was 0.397. In 2018, it climbed to 0.485.Sep 26, 2019

I think you can read many stories like that. However, my son and all of his friends (age 26) very much believe in Capitalism and are making it work for their futures. They are not featured in articles, nor are many like them.

Trump was elected in spite of the leftist “rah, rah”. Shocked the hell out of them.

I think there are a lot more common sense folks that don’t make news articles who just go about their daily lives.

On the other hand, I do think there is a movement towards socialism as the leftists have long ago infiltrated the education system.

We don’t need to be a majority, read up on the Electoral college, and how we elect representatives by district.

You are right about one thing. Starting with Bush v. Gore dem’s have refused to accept the results of Republicans winning the presidency and the resistance has gotten more hateful, violent, divisive and derisive with each succeeding year.

I was young in 68, the last time we saw such a clear and violent divide and sad as I am to say it I expect it to be much worse as we approach the conventions reaching a fevered pitch with insane intensity by election day.

If, as seems likely now Trump wins reelection and has sweeping coattails expect a near complete meltdown of the country over the next two years as democrats refuse to allow him to Govern and resort to unimaginable tactics to ensure his failure.

He is not allowed to run again … so also expect even greater displays of determination to deliver what he believes he has promised, come what may.

Of that I have little doubt. The last two years will be all about securing his legacy and his ego can’t allow himself to be dismembered as anything less than the greatest president in history so all bets are off.

What are the chances that he will end up dead and wearing a MADA hat?

Make
America

Again

Well pretty good if he stays on the KFC/McDonalds diet.

Trump is OK; he’s just a man. I gotta say, I do love the way he jerks liberal’s chains. It’s fun to watch them squirm, rant & rave. The sour grape syndrome. Heh They are not gracious losers, that’s for sure. When Trump is reelected, I expect to see mass suicides, strokes, coronaries, foaming at the mouth, projectile diarrhea.

You describe the whole of the GOP when Obama was president. It’s always this way.

I call Bull Shit on your comment.

The entire media and left have been on a tirade since the election.

Small groups of people disliked Obama however they were never organized into a hate filled crowd including people like yourself.

I did not see any Conservatives behaving like this when Obama was elected. https://youtu.be/ydGQj-qNQ4Q?t=2 There were strings of snowflake meltdowns when Trump won.

We are not on the brink of revolt.

The Left will not revolt (as opposed to some riots and looting by some of its components) because they know they will win in the long run. The demograhics are quite clear. All they have to do is to hold on, and keep gnawing away at the culture, and hollowing out the military from within.

At some point, the conservative 40% of the country will realize we will never have national power again – the Democrats (who may be called ‘Democrats’ but will not be the party of JFK, or even of Bill Clinton, having been thoroughly infiltrated by the DSA and similiar groups) will have majorities in the House and Senate, and the Presidency. The Supreme Court will be just a matter of time, unless they choose to do what FDR threatened to do, and ‘pack’ it by adding another six justices.

Then, conservatives will be faced with three very unpleasant choices:

(1) Grin and bear it. Become like the French monarchists. Have banquets occasionally and raise a toast to Ronald Reagan, to past American glory, to the (now-banned) Pledge of Allegiance.

(2) Stage a ‘revolt’, perhaps triggered by some particularly egregiously awful law or court ruling. (Christians must bake cakes for gay weddings, for example. … oh, they’ve already done that, haven’t they? Well, something like that.) The problem here is, even if we win, we become a minority dictatorship: the Left has the majority, that’s the problem. But I don’t think we’d win. Even a hollowed-out US military ten years from now will have the technology to defeat a bunch of middle-aged guys with AR15s: read up on ‘drone swarms’, for example. It’s conceivable that the military might fall apart, a Russia 1917 scenario – but even if we won …we couldn’t allow free elections.

(3) Agitate for a peaceful separation into two sovereign nations, a ‘Red America’ and a ‘Blue America’. This is so radical, so shocking, full of so many technical difficulties … that no one will seriously contemplate it right now. (For one thing, millions of people would have to move. Unthinkable.)

Option 3 will become more and more plausible as the years pass. For the moment, get that AR15, or two, or three – two thousand rounds of ammunition for each one, a dozen magazines, a good set of optics, and join a militia. Go here to find one: MyMilitia.com

And of course if you haven’t done your military service yet, join the National Guard, if you’re under 36, or ROTC, if you’re a college student.

https://www.nationalguard.com/

The closest possible ties with the military will be crucial in shaping future events.

This is not entirely wrong, but America’s economic inequality and the worsening condition of the working class is not the main thing driving the Leftwing cultural revolution. America’s working class remains relatively conservative: it’s the college kids moving ‘Left’, for ‘cultural’ reasons.

Once American patriotism has been destroyed, and the new generations are taught that America is just a racist, sexist, colonialist, homophobic cesspool … we’ll be finished.

In any case, I hope to see the establishment of a ‘Republican Workers Party’, than can undertake various sensible measures to do something about the economic problems. But it’s the ‘cultural’ war that we will inevitably lose.

As for not being around to see the resolution, no, I’m not glad about that, and not just because of the normal aversion to death. I really do want to see what happens, even though I fear there will be blood. But I won’t be around, so I will just do my best to try to plant a few seeds, to throw my featherweight onto the scales of history to favor a rebirth of the Republic.

In any case, no one knows the future. So much of history is contingent on unpredictable events, like the personality of a leader. Had a slightly different human being than Trump emerged to challenge the Republican establishment, my side would be far ahead of where we are now.

But you go to war with the army you’ve got.
