Four Kent State University students were killed and nine were injured on May 4, 1970, when members of the Ohio National Guard opened fire on a crowd gathered to protest the Vietnam War. The tragedy was a watershed moment for a nation divided by the conflict in Southeast Asia. In its immediate aftermath, a student-led strike forced the temporary closure of colleges and universities across the country. Some political observers believe the events of that day in northeast Ohio tilted public opinion against the war
Numerous investigatory commissions and court trials followed, during which members of the Ohio National Guard testified that they felt the need to discharge their weapons because they feared for their lives.
However, disagreements remain as to whether they were, in fact, under sufficient threat to use force.
In a civil suit filed by the injured Kent State students and their families, a settlement was reached in 1979 in which the Ohio National Guard agreed to pay those injured in the events of May 4, 1970 a total of $675,000.
Think Americans would be outraged with the US military killing US citizens?
Donald Trump in a radio interview on “The Simon Conway Show” called it “dangerous” to talk about a theoretical situation where special prosecutor Jack Smith plainly announced he is going to put the former president in jail.
HOST: Is it something that concerns you of the people making sure that they don’t go out of their right mind if something like that happens, if that, for example, they do say – Jack Smith says, OK, I’m going to put Donald Trump in jail?
DONALD TRUMP, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: I think it’s a very dangerous thing to even talk about, because we do have a tremendously passionate group of voters, much more passion than they had in 2020 and much more passion than they had in 2016.
Speaking at a Texas rally, former President Donald Trump called for nationwide protests if prosecutors investigating him and his businesses “do anything illegal.”
In the speech, he appeared to link the investigations to his baseless claim that the 2020 election was rigged, which led to the January 6 Capitol riot.
“If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protest we have ever had in Washington DC, in New York, in Atlanta and elsewhere because our country and our elections are corrupt,” Trump told the crowd in Conroe, Texas on Saturday night.
There is always a breaking point. Democrats are no longer Democrats when they are openly advocating censorship and trying to silence their political rivals or critics of them. If we head to a totalitarian society then forget about it all bets are off.
Remember our decree is by consent of: “Of the people, by the people for the people” once that consent is withdrawn the US government becomes null and void and no longer.
At a minimum, if he wins the presidency again then he can say he was vindicated in the public eye,. No. 2, legally if he is president of the United States, he could potentially pardon himself …Trump’s best bet at getting out of all his legal issues is becoming president again. That’s his get out of jail free card.”
The lines between Trump’s political fortunes and his legal ones are steadily blurring as the cases pile up.
We will be divided, because I think we already crossed to far between the left and the right to ever consider one side is willing to forget their differences to fight the US Government. Besides the US military is less than a million that consists of trans, women who are concerned about making dancing Tik Tok videos than actually fighting a war that I know will be fighting to the death?
Sure, but then again those lines are already blurred with the DOJ and FBI carrying water for the most corrupt presidency in all of our nations history. Worse than Grant and Harding even!
It would seem that Trump was more than capable what they say by his response.
Donald Trump was accused of “saying the quiet part loud” on Sunday night, when he protested that Mike Pence, his former vice-president, could have overturned his election defeat by Joe Biden.
Not 1 person stood up and said let’s stop and investigate the allegations of fraud. thy recounted the suspect votes and said the numbers add up. ROTFLMAO>
So are Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schummer, Maxine Waters and the members of the squad who encouraged rioting, looting and burning down our cites. Why are they not being charged with anything? No 'Geofencing from the FBI surveillance nets?
Trump said. “I got the letter on Sunday night. Think of it … And they’re in a rush because they want to interfere. It’s interference with the election.”
U.S. Constitution Sixth Amendment Sixth Amendment The Sixth Amendment guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay, the right to a lawyer, the right to an impartial jury, and the right to know who your accusers are and the nature of the charges and evidence against you.
Guess he missed that one in government class. yet here he is, advocating delay.
And there is another announcement coming soon by this Jack Smith character with further charges. I have to say I never seen anything like this in all of my life, Its totally bizarre.
Not gone. I was 11 in 1970 when the shootings occured. There is a memorial every year at the university. The company I worked for built an exhibit that travels around the state. The only people that remember/know… or care are those of us that were around when it happened. I was just a kid, so my “outrage” is non esistent… but I do know about it. I live 36 miles south of Kent State.
