President Trump's expanded travel ban targets Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Eritrea, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Myanmar

No it hasn’t.

What makes the Israeli wall so effective is that it can be constantly monitored and patrolled. It’s not 2,000 miles long through some of the toughest terrain on the continent.

What makes Israel’s wall so effective is that it’s actually a wall. Whether we have a fence or a wall, the border is still the same distance from end to end.

Yes, the terrain is challenging. Building the Hoover Dam wasn’t quite simple either, but we did it.

Also, much of the terrain still requires the same type of engineering to ensure that the fence will stand upright and plumb.

Hoover dam only closed a single valley.

The southern border has thousands of deep valleys and ravines and a shit load of water from flash floods that has to be dealt with as well.

Trump couldn’t get the funding for his 30’ concrete barriers which could not have been used on much of the terrain anyway so he took the recommendations of the BP and went with the steel and concrete bollards.

Where the new barriers have been erected we’ve had a 95-99% reduction in crossings so it’s obviously working.

Well I guess following your thinking…the Mexicans can’t penetrate a wall if you never build one.

Well that makes no sense.

We’re building it because without it they penetrate the border pretty freely.

Let’s be sure we are talking about the same thing. We asked for and we’re promised as wall and got fence upgrades to existing structures.

There’s no point in even discussing this with you as you are all in on unlimited “legal” immigration.

No we got a dramatic ovehaul of piss poor barriers that weren’t doing the job and new construction where there were no previous barriers at all.

What we’ve gotten is effective enough reduce illegal crossings by 95-99%.

We live in a democratic nation where compromise is the rule, you’re never going to get 100% of what you want.

Illegal border crossings are so high the Trump administration refers to it as an “invasion”.

Illegal crossings are down by 75% since the peak.

Still definitely a problem but one that is shrinking in scale as the physical barriers continue at a rate of over 10mi per week and legal barriers are tightened.
