What happened to Michigan is a cautionary tale. It used to vote conservative, or am I mistaken about this? Has Michigan always been a blue state?
It’s true blue now but was a swing state .
That makes sense being a swing state, as I recall many moons ago it was typically red country. It did after all vote for Trump in 2016 and Uncle Ted is from Michigan!
Michigan voted exclusively Republican from 72 to 88. They have been blue from 92 to present.

I lived in a suburb of Detroit. A completely different country than Detroit or Pontiac where blacks reside.

Michigan’s Republican party is broke. Minnesota’s was, until recently, down to $53.81 in the bank. And in Colorado, the GOP is facing eviction from its office this month because it can’t make rent.
Around the nation, state Republican party apparatuses — once bastions of competency that helped produce statehouse takeovers — have become shells of their former machines amid infighting and a lack of organization.
“It shouldn’t surprise anybody that real people with real money — the big donors who have historically funded the party apparatus — don’t want to invest in these clowns who have taken over and subsumed the Republican Party,” said Jeff Timmer, the former executive director of the once-vaunted Michigan GOP and a senior adviser to the anti-Trump Lincoln Project…
Among some state GOP officials, the mood is grim. One Michigan Republican operative, who was granted anonymity because he wasn’t authorized by the state party to comment, said of that state party: “They’re just in as bad a place as a political party can be. They’re broke…Their chair can’t even admit she lost a race. It’s defunct.”
At the end of the day, the Michigan GOP being a train wreck is not going to have any real impact on whether or not we win Michigan.”
You would think Michigan Republicans would be more focused on fighting Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) or the Biden administration than on fighting each other. You would be hopelessly wrong.
Michigan Republicans are a mess, and they are sabotaging the GOP both in their state and at the national level over their own egos. They need to figure out a real solution to this, one that doesn’t include Karamo being involved in the party at every level. And they probably need to do it sooner rather than later; in case they haven’t noticed, there is an election later this year in which Michigan will play an important part.

RNC files lawsuit against Michigan Secretary of State over state’s voter rolls

(The Hill) — The Republican National Committee (RNC) filed a lawsuit against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson on Wednesday to get the state to review its voter registration rolls.
The committee alleges the state has “failed to live up” to the National Voter Registration Act’s (NVRA) requirement that voter registration rolls must be clean.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court, argues that of Michigan’s 83 counties, at least 53 have more registered voters than adults of legal voting age. An additional 23 counties have active voter registration rates that “exceed 90 percent of adult citizens over the age of 18,” the lawsuit said.
Maryland thieves connected to theft ring from South America, in US illegally: ICE
Five Chilean nationals accused of burglarizing a Baltimore County, Maryland residence last month and being linked to crimes in other states, were all in the country illegally, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
On Feb 3, 2024, the Baltimore County Police Department arrested 20-year-old Gabriel Matamala-Ponce; 21-year-old Thomas Crisosto-Araya; 22-year-old Jorge Gatica-Vergara; 23-year-old Luis Oyanedel-Valenzuela; and 27-year-old Gabriel Miranda-Gonzalez and charged them with first-degree attempted burglary and various other burglary-related crimes.
Officers were called to the 2300 block of Tufton Springs Lane at about 6:45 p.m. that day for a burglary in progress, and quickly located the suspects fleeing from the scene in a vehicle, before stopping them and taking them into custody.
A follow-up investigation discovered the five suspects were possibly connected to four other burglaries in the county, as well as crimes in North Carolina, Alabama and Oklahoma. They were also allegedly part of a theft ring out of South America. Sanctuary cities such as Baltimore is considered generally do not cooperate with ICE.

Of course, Joe Biden will order them let out of jail so they can vote for him in November.
