There are very senior officers in the military who are nothing but bureaucrats, interested only in their careers. They will do whatever their political masters tell them to do, with enthusiasm.
There are others who are patriots. At the moment, given the success of the Left in hollowing out the military, it’s very difficult to be a conscientious patriot and also to be a senior officer. I have every sympathy with such people.
As for the enlisted men and women, all human life is there. Heroes and scoundrels and everything in between.
