CHICAGO — A deadline is looming for Jussie Smollett to pay more than $130,000 to Chicago for investigative costs into what city authorities say was a staged racist, anti-gay attack or risk getting slapped with a civil lawsuit. Time to get the popcorn and watch !

Oh no, not a civil lawsuit… I’m sure his lawyer is just shaking over that. Our justice system is such a joke.

…and a settlement could include punitive damages.
They’d still have to find a jury that would convict/rule against him. In Chicago.

By who? The prosecutor who dropped all the charges to begin with?
She would be replaced by a special prosecutor. She’s tainted.
Again, by who? The FOP are seeking her resignation. If they had proof she was tainted, she would have been discharged. I suspect that’s why they still want the FBI to look into it.
By dismissing all charges she has shown bias in any further related charges. The court would likely be requested to allow a special prosecutor.
But then, that prosecutor might be assigned by the new lesbian Mayor who might choose someone with empathy toward black gay actors.
Edit: Actually, the Mayor likely has nothing to do with determining who is the State’s Attorney.
The mayor can’t do much of anything here other than the current mayor “Rombo” supporting the petition to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Foxx, the judge that approved the deal and sealed the records, and get to the bottom of why Smollett was give a pass.
Saying Foxx’s handling of the case was “plagued with irregularity,” Mohammed’s 10-page petition asked that presiding Criminal Court Judge Leroy Martin Jr. appoint a special prosecutor to investigate whether Foxx “acted to impede the investigation … concealed evidence, and/or intentionally misled the public.”
Since the case was dismissed it should be noted too that it can be refiled at any time by her successor or any other SA in Chicago with the balls to do the right thing.

An attorney an appeals court judge have both filed requests for a special prosecutor to look into all of her actions. She’s about to go bankrupt just trying to defend herself and it’s well deserved.
Not to worry ACLU will step in and Jessie will warn the City that summer can be tough on business with angry blacks , JUSTICE OR PEACE …

Can ANYONE tell me WHY the feds are not involved yet ? Mailing a white powder via US postage service . If the prosecutor believes Jussie then why are they NOT looking for those white trump supporters ? Was this a hate crime ? How are hate crimes supposed to be handled ? Do the feds get involved ? Isn’t Jussie double protect class ( black ,and gay ) ???

Yeah it’s just too bad they aren’t actually “speaking up” over this. Apparently the prosecutor has a long track record of letting criminals off the hook. This latest incident was just the final straw. Now why would they let her get away with this for so long before “speaking up”, I wonder?
Sounds to me like it’s not just this prosecutor who is tainted.
