Well, I’ll just point out to you that that badge looks NOTHING like the flag you see rednecks driving around flying in the bed of their pickups, or in stickers on their bumpers or back windows. Nor does that badge convey the same meaning. Your badge is CLEARLY meant to unite black and white whereas we both KNOW the display of the confederate flag is NOT.
That’s exactly what I’ve been getting at with my repeated questioning about these supposed 2A sanctuaries - will they defend against any 2A infringement or only the ones they aren’t intimidated by, or only for people they aren’t intimidated by?
I suspect that over time we will see historically the same amount or more of criminal weapons prosecutions in these sanctuaries. People will do things, move to them with arms, or obtain arms while residing in them that run against existing enforced firearms laws because of the protections they think these sanctuaries will provide, only to realize that the authorities in them were just putting on a show against the big grab that never happened. Of course they will be in a courtroom in an orange jumpsuit handcuffed to a fuckin’ table when they realize it…
But no one here wants to talk about that.

How about mandatory military service like so many other countries have?
- would instill a healthy respect for weapons instead of a fear of them
- would give young adults a much needed dose of reality as far as how work actually gets done and the discipline required to succeed at work tasks
- would instill the type of military training you mention above at a basic level at least
- would train leadership skills to a generation much in need of them
- free college/technical education for those who desire to pursue it and are capable of successfully completing it
- would be an excellent environment in which to expose those who have criminal predilections or mental deficiencies that would land them in the category of those “unfit to keep and bear”
The list goes on.
I wonder, will my fellow Americans actually do something when their government attempts to do to them what they did to Randy Weaver and his family? Or, will they continue to stand by while their government tramples all over them? Time will tell.
I’ve never had an issue with that for many of the reasons you list.
However, I am not sure the military actually want that. I’d imagine (there are those here who would know better than I) they don’t want the role of parent but would rather have those who want to serve.
That one would be easy to fix. They can just create a new branch for civilians serving their mandatory service requirements. Funny when thinking about this further I remember how close I was to joining the French Foreign Legion before joining the Army. Only because I was trying to imagine what purpose this newly created branch would specialise in.
What would that look like? Seriously. 
I sure hope that it doesn’t come to that but if it does I have a feeling that a fairly large number of Americans are prepared to defend themselves from a tyrannical government, which is the God given right of every American.

Can be any number of things, but for starters it would be a 2 year period with the option to defer due to college enrolment but still be required to serve once college has been completed or some would have the option to serve after completing HS.
The branch itself would include basic training that worked in firearms training, fitness and drills. Then followed by a specialist role they choose then is put to work where they either get deployed somewhere to assist with a foreign assets or become part of something else that makes use of a specific skill they are to learn. Think the latter as “job Corp” sort of speak.
How exactly do we “appear” reasonable without surrendering even more of our rights and reducing gun ownership to a heavily restricted privilege rather than a right?
The battle flag conveys nothing but “Southern Pride”.
Hell we have democrats now spitting on our own flag saying it represents racism and oppression.
They are crisis actors who for the most part hate everything the country stands for.

Absolutely not. Draftees create constant problems with discipline and unit cohesion dramatically reducing our ability to conduct the mission.

In that era we had essentially four parties, conservative dem’s, liberal dem’s, conservative republicans, and the CCBB Republicans.
There was a significant portion of all four group’s willing to work together towards “reasonable gun regulations”.
Of course we’ve learned since that no matter what we surrender the dem’s will always come back for an even bigger bite constantly demanding we surrender more of our rights in the name of “public safety”.
Their dishonestly created the current political impasse.
And yet so many other countries see and reap the benefits. How are we not smart enough to figure it out?
Certainly the influx couldn’t just be plugged in to the existing military structure. That would be asinine. It would be foolish in the extreme to even attempt that. On the other hand, it’s foolish to think that all one needs is arms to be part of a well regulated militia.

I’m a citizen of Virginia. We are two or three large groups actively coordinating efforts for Lobby Day. We hate our Governor, and fear he will try to infiltrate trouble makers into our groups, so to make us look bad. They did it in Charlottesville, Antifa was there and trouble started. They are trying to make the area a safe gun zone, so we won’t be able to carry, they don’t want us to bring rifles because we will look intimidating, but we feel like sitting ducks!

Definitely a valid concern. It’s not like we haven’t seen them do similar things in the past.
Someone nobody seems to know joins the crowd, stirs up some serious trouble and then vanishes or, they turn out to just be an EDP not affiliated with the group but that news never seem to get out in a timely fashion.
