BREAKING: Jan. 6 panel unveils criminal referral against Donald Trump and associates, citing evidence for their prosecution - AP
What happens next is anyone’s guess but that includes John Eastman as well. As predictable as the day is short, we knew that we were going to hear something from the Jan 6 Committee that would elicit some sort of referral to indict former president Trump.
The J6 select House committee on Monday referred President Donald Trump to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation. The committee’s referral says there is sufficient evidence to refer Trump for four crimes: obstructing an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the government, making false statements to the federal government, and inciting or assisting an insurrection.
Justice Department isn’t obligated to charge anyone with a crime, regardless of referrals. President Trump hasn’t been charged with any crimes related to the U.S. Capitol breach.
