The Importance of Veterans Day in the United States

Thievery year, politicians shout about the importance of Veterans Day from the rooftops. And with good reason - Veterans Day is a time to celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. But what exactly is Veterans Day, and why is it so important?

Veterans Day is an official United States holiday which honors people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces - both living and dead. It’s observed on November 11th every year, and was originally known as Armistice Day (commemorating the end of World War I). In 1954, after WWII and the Korean War, the name was changed to Veterans Day in order to honor all American veterans, not just those of WWI.

So why is Veterans Day so important? For starters, it’s a day to remember and give thanks to all the brave men and women who have risked their lives to protect our freedoms. It’s also a day to honor the families of veterans, who make huge sacrifices themselves. And finally, it’s a chance for Americans to show their support for the military - something that is especially important in times of war.

This Veterans Day, take a moment to think about the men and women who have served our country so bravely. And if you know a veteran, be sure to thank them for their service!

If this country actually cared about Veterans, then the VA wouldn’t be designed to screw veterans out of benefits. The process for filing for benefits is deliberately complicated and confusing, and it often takes months or even years to get a decision. And even when veterans do finally receive benefits, the amount is often too low to cover their basic needs. Meanwhile, VA employees are paid handsome salaries and bonuses, while doing as little as possible to help veterans. Clearly, the system is rigged against veterans, and that the government has no intention of making things any better. If this country actually cared about Veterans, then the VA would be a place where veterans could get the help they need, without jumping through hoops and waiting for months on end. But that’s not what the politicians of this country care about. They only care about using veterans as political pawns, while doing everything possible to keep them from getting the help they need.

Happy Veterans Day, Fuck the VA!

Isn’t it interesting how the brothas in supply always manage to get 100% disability for handing out uniforms and equipment in a climate controlled environment…but get blasted by an IED, 25%.

That’s because the claims processors at the VA are part of “the community” and we aren’t. You need to be the right color to get the benefits.

You ain’t lying. My white privilege strikes again!

I always thought the solution was to privatize it with a self insured system to pay for it. Also putting safeguards in place to also protect it from malfeasance so it wouldn’t become what a lot of hospitals have become today, putting profit first over quality care.
